Innovation = trial and error. There is no innovation without a lot of trial and error, and then the mistakes (prototypes) should remain as reasonable as possible.

 

The importance of something tangible (prototype) must not be underestimated in a product development phase. As soon as you get something physical from an original idea, it greatly helps further thinking/progress, wise decisions and investor willingness. The right decision early in a development phase can save millions in the bottom line.
